The Marriage Registration Regulations effective 10 May 2025 removed the household-register booklet requirement for mainland residents, but identity documents, declarations and other legal conditions still apply. Chinese–foreign marriages are handled by the provincial civil-affairs authority or offices it designates, not necessarily every ordinary registry.
